Outstanding Characteristics:  American Beech is a grand native tree, slow growing but reaching treemendous size.  Smooth light gray bark and, in dormancy, light brown persistent foliage will make this tree stand out in the landscape.  

Notes:  Prefers well drained soil.  Typically found in the south on ridges adjacent to bottomland.  Great roosting tree for turkeys!
